WellHaven offers a variety of preventive care as well as services for when your pets aren’t feeling their best (or get into something they shouldn’t have). With up-to-date equipment, Fear Free exam rooms, and caring health care professionals, we’re here to help with routine appointments, health care answers, and speedy treatments.
Our goal is to always leave your pet healthier than we found them. Take a look at the services we offer and if your pet is in peril, give us a call immediately and we’ll discuss possible options.
Annual Examinations
When you first get your pet (or they get you), bring them into WellHaven for an initial examination. We can establish where their health is at and design a health care program for your pet that covers the rest of the year. We can chart any changes to the health or lifestyle of your pet and design care on a yearly basis.
Pet Dentistry
You know how important it is to see your dentist on a regular basis – the same holds true for your pets! The American Veterinary Dental Society states that at least 70 percent of adult cats and dogs have some sort of oral disease. If left unaddressed, these diseases could travel to your pet’s heart, liver, and kidneys via the bloodstream. Let WellHaven take care of your fur baby’s teeth before issues complicate their overall health.
Nutritional Counseling
As pet owners ourselves, we know just how impossible it can be to keep from feeding your pal the occasional table scrap. Too many of those yummy treats, however, can begin to affect their quality of life. If Fido is getting a little flabby or your tabby is getting tubby, talk to our staff about setting a normal feeding schedule and other lifestyle changes to get them back to their optimal weight.
Orthopedic and Soft Tissue Surgery
Our hospital staff is highly skilled and experienced with a range of pet surgery. Using modern techniques, cutting-edge equipment, and tried and true safety standards, your pet is in excellent hands with Vancouver Vet. We’ll work with you to set up an appointment and discuss all recovery options beforehand.
Exotics
At Vancouver Veterinary Hospital, we recognize that animal companions come in all shapes and sizes. For this reason, Dr. Dawid offers veterinary care for ALL species. Whether it has scales, fins, feathers, fur, shells, beaks, or horns, whether it is aquatic or terrestrial, companion or livestock; Dr. Dawid sees it all. Many of these more termed “exotic” species require a very particular environment to thrive paying close attention to husbandry and diet. This is why it is important to have a doctor experienced in their care. Dr. Dawid has a special interest in exotic species and embraces the inherent essence of being an all-encompassing “animal doctor”. He has a wide range of background/experience in treating all species including, but not limited to reptiles/amphibians, fish, livestock, arachnids/insects, avian and all types of mammals. Dr. Dawid also works in accordance with numerous wildlife rehab/rescue groups in the Vancouver area. Please call to address any future needs he can help you with.
Preventive Care
We’re firm believers that preventing any health issues is a much better course of action than waiting for problems to arise. Annual exams, vaccinations, monthly treatments for parasite control, and other services will give your pet the full “nose to tail” treatment. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Internal Medicine
It’s easy to see that something is wrong when your pet is limping around the house. But if they’re acting listless, not eating, or even being too aggressive, it can be hard to know exactly what’s wrong. With state-of-the-art radiology (x-ray) equipment, an on-site lab, and an in-house pharmacy, we can test, diagnose, and treat most pet problems quickly, often on the same day.
Emergency Care
Preventive care, monthly treatments, and annual examinations are excellent ways to keep your pet’s overall health in great shape. But there are times when your four-legged friend has an accident that needs immediate attention. When this happens, please call WellHaven so we can either prepare for your arrival or discuss other options.
Spaying, Neutering, and Microchipping
During the initial exam, we can schedule a spay or neuter if necessary, microchip your pet for safety. Spaying your pet will help prevent future diseases in the uterus and breast tumors while neutering reduces chances of testicular cancer and prostate disease. Both surgeries will also help stem the tide of overpopulation.
