Roy Velardi, DVM
VeterinarianDr. Roy Velardi graduated from the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Previously he received his B.S. and M.S in Genetics also from UC Davis. He completed an internship in equine medicine in 1988, and practiced equine medicine and surgery till 1994, when he arrived in the northwest to join a mixed animal practice. As demographics and caseloads changed, he became more interested and involved in small animal medicine and surgery. He has been the owner of Vancouver Veterinary Hospital since 2003. His wife Mary and sons Anthony and Nicolas keep him busy at home with her horses and their 4-H projects raising hogs and steers. There is always something to fix, treat or mend.
Kathryn graduated with an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Health in Denver, Colorado. She is a licensed veterinary technician (LVT) in the state of Washington. Kathryn grew up on 5 acres near Colorado Springs, Colorado, surrounded by numerous dogs and cats, along with a few farm animals and horses. Her love for animals started early and has remained strong her entire life. Living outside Washougal, Washington for a number of years allowed her and her family to raise a variety of livestock, friendly barn cats and the dogs pictured in the photo. Bonny is a 14 year old black, tri-colored, Australian Shepard. Jack is a 5-year-old Black Labrador Retriever, and Skye is a 3-year-old Blue Merle, Australian Shepherd. Kathryn also worked with the Skamania County 4-H organization for 2 years leading a 4-H dog group and organizing the Skamania County Fair Dog Show Competition. Currently living in Vancouver with her husband, youngest son, and Bonny, Kathryn joined Vancouver Veterinary Hospital in June of 2017.
Amanda was born and raised in Lexington, KY. She worked for a Veterinary Clinic in Kentucky for over 16 years before moving to Vancouver, WA in 2014. She started working at Vancouver Veterinary Hospital in July of 2014. Amanda has a Veterinary Assistant degree from The School of Animal Science, Professional Career Development Institute. She also has a certificate reflecting that she successfully completed an educational course as a Hill’s Veterinary Nutritional Advocate.
Amanda has owned Shetland Sheepdogs, an American Cocker Spaniel, Zebra Finches, Rats, a Box Turtle and since 2010, she and her husband have Australian Shepherds.
In September of 2015, she added a new addition to her family and adopted a middle-age Aussie from Western Australian Shepherd Rescue named Raylan from the T.V. series Justified.
Jacquelyn joined us August of 2016. She is one of our in-training veterinary technicians. She is a cat-loving, country-loving kind of woman. As a child, her biggest dream in life was to become a dolphin trainer but instead, she found an even bigger love working with small animals. She has one fur baby, a cat named Dilly. He is an all grey fluff ball with a lot of personality. On her day off you can find her hiking, hanging out with her family, or at the local spots downtown Vancouver.
Practice ManagerRyan spends most of his time managing the practice and our wonderful team making sure everything is running smoothly. Ryan has been in the veterinary field for over 20 years and has been an LVT/CVT since 2007. He made the journey from Phoenix, AZ to the Vancouver, WA area in 2014 and brought a multitude of experience with him. He is skilled in many different areas of veterinary medicine to include exotic and wild animal care, emergency/critical care, and specialty medicine. Ryan’s passion has always been helping animals and people in any way he can.
When he’s not in the hospital he enjoys spending his free time with his wife and 2 children. He also enjoys horticulture, rockhounding, and food culture.
