Roy Velardi, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Roy Velardi graduated from the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Previously he received his B.S. and M.S in Genetics also from UC Davis. He completed an internship in equine medicine in 1988, and practiced equine medicine and surgery till 1994, when he arrived in the northwest to join a mixed animal practice. As demographics and caseloads changed, he became more interested and involved in small animal medicine and surgery. He has been the owner of Vancouver Veterinary Hospital since 2003. His wife Mary and sons Anthony and Nicolas keep him busy at home with her horses and their 4-H projects raising hogs and steers. There is always something to fix, treat or mend.
Holley Crooks, DVM

Holley Crooks, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Holley Crooks grew up in Phoenix, AZ but spent her summers visiting family in Hood River, OR. She knew from an early age that she loved the PNW and wanted to call it home. Dr. Crooks attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ where she met her husband. After graduating, she went on to Washington State University in Pullman, WA where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2007. Since then she has lived and worked in Vancouver, WA. She enjoys being a veterinarian because no two days are the same and everyday is an opportunity to strengthen the human animal bond.

Dr. Crooks and her husband are very involved in the local and national roller derby community. She skates and he referees, and they enjoy traveling throughout the US to participate in roller derby tournaments.

Dr. Crooks has a pack of three dogs and four cats, ruled by a spunky Chihuahua named Lentil and a well-educated brown tabby called Dr. Handsome.

Reception

Amanda was born and raised in Lexington, KY. She worked for a Veterinary Clinic in Kentucky for over 16 years before moving to Vancouver, WA in 2014. She started working at Vancouver Veterinary Hospital in July of 2014. Amanda has a Veterinary Assistant degree from The School of Animal Science, Professional Career Development Institute. She also has a certificate reflecting that she successfully completed an educational course as a Hill’s Veterinary Nutritional Advocate.

Amanda has owned Shetland Sheepdogs, an American Cocker Spaniel, Zebra Finches, Rats, a Box Turtle and since 2010, she and her husband have Australian Shepherds.

In September of 2015, she added a new addition to her family and adopted a middle-age Aussie from Western Australian Shepherd Rescue named Raylan from the T.V. series Justified.

Lead Veterinary Assistant

Jacquelyn joined us August of 2016. She is one of our in-training veterinary technicians. She is a cat-loving, country-loving kind of woman. As a child, her biggest dream in life was to become a dolphin trainer but instead, she found an even bigger love working with small animals. She has one fur baby, a cat named Dilly. He is an all grey fluff ball with a lot of personality. On her day off you can find her hiking, hanging out with her family, or at the local spots downtown Vancouver.

Veterinary Assistant

Amy was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She studied at WSU Pullman and graduated with a BA in Zoology. Shortly after, Amy moved to Vancouver, WA in November of 2019. Amy has a Labrador mix named Tarmac. He is a goofy boy that loves playing fetch all day long. Outside of the hospital, Amy loves plants, food, and traveling.
